What Lies Beneath

You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth

Pslams 52:3

These words cannot echo more loudly for the days we are currently living in.  Today our nation is under siege with lies from the media, places of education and our fellow government representatives.  The words of Jeremiah to Israel in their backsliding days should be jumping out the pages of God’s Word. "So you shall say to them, 'This is a nation that does not obey the voice of the LORD their God nor receive correction. Truth has perished and has been cut off from their mouth.”   -Jeremiah 7:28

In our day…  all the way from our businesses, education, relationships and yes… in the pulpits of churches!  The prophet Hosea couldn’t have said more clearly when he said… “Hear the word of the LORD, you children of Israel, for the LORD brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land: "There is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land. By swearing and lying, killing and stealing and committing adultery, they break all restraint, with bloodshed upon bloodshed.”  - Hosea 4:1-2

Today as a nation we are relying more on our feelings to situations that occur each day as facts rather than the facts themselves.  This is clearly seen by the mishandling by the media of the Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States Brett Kavanaugh.   After Forty interviews investigators have found no factual evidence substantiating the sexual harassment and assault claims made by Dr. Ford or other women against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Yet the majority of the populace treated these accusations as facts based on their emotions rather than the evidence presented.  Critical thinking was replaced by the heinous accusations of sexual abuse, and the words of Friedrich Nietzsche can be heard throughout the media… There are no facts, only interpretations!

Übermensch.jpeg

When we treat feelings as facts, we eliminate the need to test our conclusions which allows people like Friedrich Nietzsche and his philosophy of there are no facts, only interpretations into play into the God is Dead theory and the raise of the Übermensch, Superman Overman which ushered in the Nazi Party resulting in up to 15 to 20 million deaths overall.  After thirteen years of painstaking study at Washington's Holocaust Memorial Museum, historians at the museum brought together and studied the huge amount, and often disparate, files and research on the Holocaust. The results of their research are quite shocking.  Up until now, the Holocaust is thought to have consumed between five and six million Jews, with an estimated further six million other people also murdered by the Nazi regime.

While Auschwitz and the Warsaw Ghetto became infamous names linked to the system of mass killing, the museum found that they were just part of an extensive network that imprisoned and obliterated millions of lives. The research covered some 42,400 camps and ghettos across Europe, and also included forced-labour camps and Nazi "care" centres where pregnant women were forced to have an abortion or had their child killed right after giving birth. It also drew in camps, prisons and killing grounds used by Nazi puppet regimes in countries such as France and Romania. The number of locations is almost double previous estimates made by the same institution and, all told, they may have imprisoned and killed between 15 to 20 million people.  History is a great teacher and… “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it” – Winston Churchill.

When we treat feelings as facts, we are also prone to treat those who see the world differently as stupid, mean-spirited, or the enemy as the Nazi’s were led to believe.   And today we are being conditioned to do them same by society.   This can be clearly seen with the election of Barack Obama, an America-hating criminal traitor who systematically worked to destroy the United States of America from within. We are still trying to stop the devastation left behind by his administration with emergency measures, but the bureaucratic deep state is blocking all such efforts while pointing at Trump and claiming it’s his fault for what’s going wrong with this country.  And critical thinking hardworking American who believe in commonsense conservative ideals have many reasons to feel good about President Trump’s job performance during his first two years in office. But the media never makes any mention; instead they works hard in trying to shed a dim light on his accomplishments and accuse him of many false accusations while the majority of the lazy thinkers rally behind the media’s fact less fabrications.

mass hypnosis.jpeg

A form of mass hypnosis by the media has become quite affective in our society as negative information and flat out lies about our president are televised; on the internet and published daily. The public hears it and repeats it with no facts supporting it… just like teaching a parrot to talk!

The majority of society are just lazy thinkers and the puppet masters know it and are using it to their advantage.  In a series of experiments, Harvard neuroscientist Joshua Greene described what he calls a “dual-process brain.” He uses the analogy of a digital camera, which has an automatic mode and a manual mode. The automatic mode in our brains is driven by emotions. It is fast and efficient. The manual mode requires reasoning to do its work. It is slower, just like changing manual settings on your camera is slower. Problems come, Greene argues, when we use the automatic mode in situations that call for manual-mode thinking.

The limbic system, buried deeper in the brain controls emotions. The prefrontal cortex, where reason gets applied to emotion, is on the brain’s outer layer. As his experiments bear out, our first reaction is often an emotional one, and then the rational processing part may get engaged. The difference in time is infinitesimal, but it is not irrelevant. The implication for everyday thinking is that we often make a decision based on our feelings and then use our reason to rationalize the decisions our emotions have already arrived at. Feelings call forth the facts they need.

When there’s disagreement, it threatens our sense of self and is treated as a putdown. Neuroscientists have discovered that threats to our social status activate the same parts of the brain as physical pain. Simply put, when our status is threatened, it hurts. When something hurts, we come out swinging.

For all these reasons, feelings can gain greater ascendancy over facts as time goes on, making us more extreme and more certain in our views. Our society and our politics become more polarized, and we forget that there are facts we ignore. We literally cannot see them.  That is why so many people rather follow the masses instead of questioning the media today.

one nation under god.jpg

Our nation is under siege with lies and fabrications of the truth as the days of Jeremiah and Hosea.  Daily we get lies in the place of truth.  If we focus on Jesus Christ, He will help us to know the truth in these dark days, Jesus said… "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever-- "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”   -John 14:16-17

Our emotions are central to our humanity. When we get our facts straight and integrate them appropriately with our feelings and God’s Word then our actions can help us to see wonderful things happen in our personal, professional, and civic lives.

Let us adhere to the Word of God and keep to it's wisdom in these times of lies.

Peace,
